Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton rushed to the hospital

Manchester United legend and Munich disaster survivor Sir Bobby Charlton was rushed to the hospital after complaining of stomach pains at a charity golf event.

The 76-year-old was taking part in a charity event – Alfred Dunhill Links championship at St Andrews in Scotland. Rower Sir Steve Redgrave, ex-footballer Ruud Gullit and actor Hugh Grant also took part in the celebrity golf tournament.

The1966 World Cup winner reportedly refused to get into the ambulance and insisted on completed his golf round but he was persuaded to do otherwise.

A Mirror source said: “It was typical of Sir Bobby. He turned out for a charity golf event and, when he had a bit of a turn, was determined to carry on,"

“Others thought different and an ambulance was called. He refused point blank to get in but was then persuaded to let the doctors check him over.

He was taken to Ninewells hospital, 17 miles away in Dundee. He was discharged soon after.
