What's the story?

Manchester United caretaker manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed concerns over the possible knee ligament damage after Alexis Sanchez got injured in the second half in an enthralling 3-2 victory over Southampton at Old Trafford.

In case you didn't know

Alexis signed for Manchester United in January last year in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way. Sanchez was handed a whopping £400,000 weekly wage.

However, he has failed to live up to the expectations since his arrival and has struggled to get going. The most notable contribution made by Alexis came in a 3-2 victory over Manchester City last season and in another 3-2 win against Newcastle earlier in the campaign.

Alexis is trying hard to regain his form, but nothing seems to be going his way. He has struggled with injuries this season and never looked hundred percent fit on the pitch.

The heart of the matter

Injuries to key United forwards allowed Solskjaer to start Sanchez against Southampton at Old Trafford. The visitors took the lead in the first half, but a fightback from United saw the home side run out 3-2 winners and move back into the top four.

The win came at a cost though with Alexis Sanchez getting subbed off after he was found holding his knee in the second half. In his post-match press conference, Solskjaer said:

It might be the ligament, it's a bad knock on his knee.
We'll do a scan [on Sunday] but we don't know until we've done the scan
