According to reports in Italy, Manchester United are ready to dig deep into their pockets to bring Colombian international Juan Guillermo Cuadrado to Old Trafford.

A fee of around of €40million plus add-ons is being reported as the price that the Red Devils are willing to pay to bring the winger to England from Fiorentina.

Cuadrado shot into the limelight last season with stellar performances for the Florence side. Possessing the ability to play at right-back, Cuadrado excelled last year when given the freedom to go forward by Vincenzo Montella.

The Colombian ace scored 15 goals in all competition last season for the Viola, while also notching up 8 assists.

The ex-Udinese man’s performances for the Viola ultimately helped them qualify for the Champions League with a fouth place finish.

A great showing in the World Cup certainly didn’t hurt his stock either. Cuadrado and co marched into the quarter-finals of the tournament, surprising many by their fluent and fearless style of play before being knocked out by hosts Brazil.

Cuadrado has been the topic of regular transfer speculation throughout the summer and now it looks like Manchester United will be the one to make the first move for the winger.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal refrained from talking about Cuadrado in a recent interview.

“I cannot talk about Cuadrado, because if I say something about him the price will rise.”, the Dutchman said. These words however left little to the imagination about his intentions regarding the talented Colombian.

Manchester United’s offer however still falls short of Fiorentina’s valuation of €50m (£39.6m) for Cuadrado.
