Manchester United player ratings from their 0-0 stalemate against Liverpool | Premier League 2018-19

United vs. Liverpool.
United vs. Liverpool.

Manchester United hosted Liverpool in one of the most anticipated fixtures of GW 27 as both sides looked to grab all three points in the quest to reach closer to their aspirations. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had a chance to maintain his unbeaten run in the league, whereas Jurgen Klopp's men looked to go three points clear at the top of the table.

The first half was somewhat chaotic with both sides managing to create very few chances. Jesse Lingard came the closest for United, but Alisson was up to the task to deny the England international a clear shot on goal. Liverpool had more of the ball, but couldn't carve out any clear-cut openings.

Solskjaer used all his substitutes as a result of injuries to Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard, which disrupted the shape of the home side. The second half was nothing different from the first. United set up for a draw with all the injuries, and Liverpool failed to create anything going forward.

It was a fair result at the end, and United would be happier of the two sides at the end. Here are the Manchester United player ratings.

David De Gea - 7/10

The Reds had more possession but couldn't create enough chances to bother David De Gea in either of the halves.

Ashley Young - 6.5/10

Ashley Young had a bad start to the game but settled down gradually, keeping Sadio Mane at bay on most occasions.

Victor Lindelof - 7/10

United had to defend in most parts of the game, but Lindelof was calm in his positioning and passing. He led the back-line well against a strong Liverpool attack.

Chris Smalling - 6.5/10

Smalling complemented Lindelof well and didn't give much space for Salah or Sturridge to run behind. He kept things simple at the back.

Luke Shaw - 7/10

The England full-back had to do a lot of work down the left-hand side to stop Mo Salah, and on more than one occasion, Shaw was up to the task. He won most of the 1-v-1 against the Egyptian.

Ander Herrera - 5/10

Ander Herrera started the game well, but unfortunately, had to be substituted with an injury in the first half.

Scott McTominay - 6.5/10

Scott McTominay came in as a makeshift replacement for Nemanja Matic, and stood up tall and committed in every tackle in the midfield. It was a commanding midfield performance from McTominay.

Paul Pogba - 7.5/10

Whatever United produced in the attacking third came through Paul Pogba, but with the team on the backfoot for most parts of the game, it was tough for Pogba to play at his creative best.

Juan Mata - 6/10

Another player who started to get into the game until injury cut short his time in the match.

Romelu Lukaku - 7/10

Lukaku didn't do much as a center forward, but once he got shifted to the right-hand side, the Belgian produced some of the best crosses in the game, but nothing came out of those.

Marcus Rashford - 6/10

It was unfortunate that Rashford took a knock in the first half, and with all substitutes used, United played with a half-fit Rashford in the entire second half.

Substitutes

Jesse Lingard - 6/10

Lingard got the best chance in the first half until he got substituted himself after a hamstring injury.

Andreas Pereira - 7/10

Pereira's energy and movement were clearly visible, and he chased every Liverpool player down. He certainly did enough to impress the manager today.

Alexis Sanchez - 5.5/10

Alexis has been the only player who has yet to show any signs of improvement under Solskjaer, but he performed his defensive duties well.
