Predicted Manchester United XI vs Liverpool: 4-3-3 – Di Maria misses out

United XI vs Liverpool

The biggest test of Louis Van Gaal’s United tenure comes this weekend as the Reds travel to Anfield in a game that won’t just go a long way to deciding who takes the coveted fourth spot but is also over fifty years of intense rivalry and swapped periods of dominance.

United go into the game full of confidence off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win over Spurs which had Old Trafford buzzing again. The main problem for the United boss will be what to do with the returning Angel Di Maria, who’s served his suspension following his red card against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

It would be tempting for the Reds’ manager to bring his record signing back into the side but after such an emphatic win over a fellow top four contender Van Gaal may be tempted to stick with the same attacking players he used last week.

With Luke Shaw sidelined and Robin Van Persie yet to reach match fitness Van Gaal still has plenty of options and may decide to give Radamel Falcao a start but it’s highly unlikely considering the Colombian has struggled to even get off the bench. Adnan Januzaj is another option for the United manager but again he seems to have used the youngster sparingly over the past few weeks and may prefer to use the Belgian from the bench along with Di Maria should he need to inject some pace into the side.

Ashley Young can hopefully put disappointment of missing out on Roy Hodgson’s latest England squad with an impressive display on Sunday.
