Reports in German newspaper Bild claim that Manchester United and Real Madrid may have submitted bids for Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan.

The midfielder’s contract runs out in the summer of 2015 so Dortmund are keen to tie him down to a new deal before any other clubs have the chance to speak to him about a possible transfer.

Bild have claimed that a new offer may already be on the table from Dortmund for Gundogan to consider. The German press also say that Man Utd and Real Madrid have both submitted bids, too.

Don’t let that cause any confusion, though. Apparently the bids are to try and sign Gundogan in the summer as he fights back to full fitness after missing the majority of the current season through injury.

The bid by Madrid is said to include Karim Benzema who will go to Dortmund in return.

Ilkay Gundogan was prodded with questions, recently, about his future at the club as the big European clubs circle in on him.

Speaking to Bild, he said: “I will soon make a decision that will be well considered.” He continued: “It’s still really open.”
