Manchester United retain Patrice Evra but release Federico Macheda

Man United decide to retain Evra for next season.

Manchester United have decided to keep Patrice Evra at the club this summer, but have officially announced the departures of several other players.

The news was announced via the official Premier League website which displays every player who has been kept or released.

The list of players released was as follows:

Barmby Jack

Byrne Sam John

Ferdinand Rio Gavin

Giggs Ryan Joseph

Macheda Federico

Rudge Jack James

Vidic Nemanja

However, the Red Devils have decided to keep Patrice Evra on board, despite being heavily linked with a move elsewhere. The French international left-back has his future under intense speculation after some average performances this season and it was thought that Manchester United were keen to let him go, particularly with Louis van Gaal taking over and yielding the axe on many.

Evra now looks set to sign a new contract, with this a clear signal the club and van Gaal want to keep the former Monaco man at the club. Luke Shaw is set to be signed by the club, which sparked speculation that Evra’s time was up at Manchester United.
