EPL 2016/17: Manchester United send scouts to watch Celtic striker Moussa Dembele

Moussa Dembele, Celtic
Dembele is en route to becoming one of Europe’s top strikers

Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is one of the most promising players in Europe at this point in time, with a host of clubs fighting for his signature, and now Manchester United are the latest ones to join in the race for the young Frenchman.

The Red Devils sent their scouts to watch the Celtic striker against Ross County.

What’s all the fuss about?

Dembele has been in fine form since moving to Celtic Park and has already scored 14 goals this season. More notably, Dembele also netted a hat-trick against bitter rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premier League clash last month.

He then followed that up with a brace against Manchester City in the Champions League two weeks later.

Dembele once again proved to be a thorn in Rangers’ flesh, as he scored the winner against them in the Bretford Cup tie, to set up a date with Aberdeen in the final.

Still only 20, Dembele possesses all the necessary attributes to become one of the best players in the world in the years to come. Moreover, though Dembele is known for his goal scoring prowess, he is also an incredible athlete who is adept at playing anywhere across the frontline. More importantly, his recent performances have made the footballing world sit up and take notice of his immense innate talent.

But the Manchester United scouts could not catch a glimpse of Dembele in action, as he was rested by Celtic manager Brendon Rodgers and replaced by Leigh Griffiths in the starting lineup for the game against Ross County.

There’s always room for improvement

Despite his recent outstanding performances, Dembele is still far from being a finished product; and perhaps this is what led Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane to advise the youngster to spend the next two years of his career at Celtic, earlier this week.

But given the kind of attention that Dembele has been generating from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Celtic might find it hard to resist the kind of money they could possibly make through the sale of the youngster.

In fact, it’s perhaps only a matter of time before Dembele leaves Scotland in search of greener pastures.

Finally, although only time will tell where Dembele will end up in the future, one should not be surprised if he is involved in a big money move to one of the European big boys somewhere in the near future.
