Manchester United still close to Ronaldo's heart

Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo added to the speculation of his return to former club Manchester United by saying that he still “loves” the club that gave him the platform to become one of the world’s greatest players.

Ronaldo insisted that he will try to knock United out of the Champions League, but admitted that he won’t be happy to score against them. Real Madrid will face Manchester United at the Santiago Bernabeu on 13th February, and on 5th March at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo won his first Ballon d’Or during his time at Manchester United. Then, the Portuguese forward became the most expensive footballer in history after moving from Manchester United to Real Madrid in a transfer worth $131.6 million.

“I still have great feeling of friendship and love for them, they’re a team that have done a lot for my career,” said Ronaldo.

“The fans know me well and I have a lot of friends there that I keep close to my heart.

“But now I am defending Real Madrid’s colours.

“It’s a bit of a sad feeling I guess, but I want to score, and for us to win, and that would make everything better.”
