Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson has urged Manchester United to part ways with star midfielder Paul Pogba by selling him to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old has had a turbulent season with the Red Devils, churning out intermittent performances and falling out with the Old Trafford supporters. He has also made no secret of his love for donning the famous Los Blancos white shirt under Zinedine Zidane.

Speaking to ESPN FC on the subject, Robson said,

“It would be perfect all round. It would be perfect for Paul Pogba, I think it would be perfect for Real Madrid."
“And at Manchester United we haven’t seen the best of him. There’s something not quite right at Manchester United with him."
“I saw him at Juventus for years where he was absolutely outstanding. There wasn’t one thing he couldn’t do in that midfield position."
“Whether it be attacking, whether it be defending, heading the ball. He hasn’t done that at Manchester United and there must be a reason why. You can’t quite put your finger on it. But I think it would be a great move for all three.”

Liverpool speed demon Sadio Mane has revealed he held talks with arch-rivals Manchester United back in 2016. The Senegalese international switched Southampton for Liverpool in a £34m deal after holding serious talks with the Red Devils.

Shedding light on the details about the talks, Mane said,

"I was really, really close because I even met up with them."
“So I was coming, I was there and I spoke with the boss who was there before [Louis van Gaal]."
“They made an offer, but in the same week, [Jurgen] Klopp called me. He said: ‘I think it’s the right club. The right coach for you, and I think it’s better that you go to Liverpool"

Mane is now preparing to face Tottenham in Liverpool's second UEFA Champions League final in a row.

According to Marca via The Mirror, Zinedine Zidane is planning to delay a move for Tottenham star Christian Eriksen in order to focus on completing a deal for Paul Pogba.

The French tactician is planning a major summer overhaul at the Santiago Bernabeu and is expected to land Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard this week.

Zidane is also keen on bolstering his midfield and has Eriksen and Pogba on his shortlist. The Frenchman is now focussed on signing his compatriot before turning his attention to the Danish playmaker.

However, there might be a financial hurdle in signing the World Cup winner, with Manchester United said to be holding out for at least £120m. Eriksen could be available for as low as £50m which could force Zidane to sign the Dane instead of the Frenchman.

Manchester United are said to be gearing up for a transfer battle with cross-town rivals Manchester City over Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo this summer. The Portuguese right-back joined the Bianconeri in a £35m deal just twelve months ago.

La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira has reported that both the Premier League giants are in touch with Cancelo's agent Jorge Mendes.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge fan of the Portuguese left-back and is rumoured to have submitted a bid. Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also looking for players who can perform this role and could lock horns with his fierce rivals for Cancelo's signature.

The Portuguese had earlier revealed his intentions to stay put earlier, but Juventus are willing to let him go for a fee in the region of £53m.

Joao Felix is one of the hottest young prospects in world football at the moment and has sparked a heated transfer battle between the Manchester giants, who are said to be vying for his signature. The 19-year-old is valued at £106m.

According to Portuguese outlet CM Sport via the Express, the Citizens have already opened talks with Benfica and Felix over a potential move. However, Solskjaer and United plan to steal a march on their rivals by matching the buyout clause for the player. United plan to pay £78m up front, with the rest of the fee to be paid in add-ons.

According to the report, Solskjaer is also willing to sell two Man United stars to fund the move. However, he hasn't named any specific players who might leave Old Trafford for that cause.
