Manchester United have been in the limelight since the commencement of the transfer window and rightly so. The Red Devils are in dire need of defensive reinforcements, but it seems that the Old Trafford faithful will have to wait until summer to welcome any new face to the club.

Today's roundup concerns United's quest for a new manager, while Premier League Transfer News Reports have also confirmed their interest in a Belgian attacker.

On that note, let's have a look at the top stories concerning Manchester United today.

#3 Yannick Carrasco's wife confirms Manchester United interest

Yannick Carrasco wants to return to Europe
Yannick Carrasco wants to return to Europe

Yannick Carrasco shocked the world when he moved to Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang from Atletico Madrid a year ago, in spite of having no shortage of European suitors interested in his services. It seems the Belgian has finally seen the error in his ways and is open to a switch back to Europe in this month.

Carrasco's wife, Noemie Happart, has confirmed that Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United are very much interested in signing the player.

"There are a lot of things going on, he has been called by a lot of clubs. A lot of clubs are interested, nothing concrete, nothing has been signed yet."
"Yes, they are very interested. I do not hide it, but nothing is signed."

Happart also said that the couple would love to move closer to their family and friends.

Carrasco has now scored seven times in 25 games for Dalian Yifang, helping them avoid relegation. He earns a fortune at the club but is ready to take a pay-cut if he joins Arsenal or Manchester United.

#2 Kalidou Koulibaly prime target for summer

Manchester United's heavy interest in Kalidou Koulibaly should come as no surprise, knowing that the player has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.

The Red Devils are rumoured to be planning to offer an escape route for the 27-year-old defender, who has been facing problems related to racism in Italy.

Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis has poured cold water on United's hopes of landing Koulibaly in this month, constantly insisting that his prized asset is not for sale.

The Red Devils, however, have earmarked him as the prime transfer target for the summer, after they failed to land him with a £95m bid this month.

Koulibaly joined Napoli in 2012 for a £6m fee from Genk in 2012. Spanish giants Real Madrid are also interested in signing the defender, signalling the possibility of a bidding war for him in the summer.

#1 Manchester United in talks with two managers

Manchester United have already held talks with Diego Simeone regarding a full-time role

Manchester United have a busy summer coming up this year. With all the transfer requirements that need to be taken care of, the club will also be in the market for a new manager unless they allow Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to continue on a permanent basis.

United's interest in Mauricio Pochettino is well-documented, but the Red Devils are keeping their backup plans ready, in case they fail to land the Tottenham boss for a full-time role.

According to the Mirror, the Red Devils have already spoken to Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone regarding a permanent managerial role at Old Trafford starting from this summer.

As The Telegraph reports, United are also considering England manager Gareth Southgate for the job. It remains to be seen if any of the two names do succeed Solskjaer in the summer.
