United fall behind Tottenham in race for Steven Bergwijn

PSV Eindhoven midfielder Steven Bergwijn is one of the most sought after players this transfer season. According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur are said to be in pole position to land the 21-year-old.

Manchester United are also said to have shown a keen interest in signing the Belgian, while Ajax are also amongst his fervent admirers. He is expected to leave PSV for around £35m this summer.

Steven Bergwijn joined PSV in 2011 and has developed through the ranks of the club's youth academy. 2018-19 was the breakthrough season for the speedy winger, who impressed by scoring 15 goals and registering 13 assists in 40 games for PSV Eindhoven in all competitions.

With Mauricio Pochettino said to be a great admirer of Bergwijn's talent, Tottenham could win the race for his signature, given that he won't command a mammoth fee.
