Manchester United Transfer News: Nani Wants To Stay With Red Devils

Manchester United winger Nani has reiterated his desire to remain with the Premier League champions next season in spite of rumours linking him to a move away from the club. The Portuguese star has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Arsenal in recent weeks, but he says that Man United is ‘the best club in the world’ and he wouldn’t move anywhere unless they made him.

With the arrival of Ashley Young, Nani’s future was shrouded in doubt with it being suspected that playing opportunities would be at a premium for him from next season on. But Nani declared that he wasn’t intimidated by Young’s arrival and that he would do all he could to fight for a place in the first team.

Although he laughed his bottom off at the Arsenal rumours, he was reflective when asked about Barcelona. Of the Catalans, he said-

“These are clubs that make you think,”

“But I’m sure I’ll be at Manchester United. It’s the best club in the world.”

He also insisted that he was perfectly comfortable with the arrival of Aston Villa wide forward Ashley Young, and said that he had been playing at Man United for years now and no longer felt intimidated.

He cited the example of fellow Portuguese and current Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo when he said that both of them had formed a good partnership down the years. He said-

“I’ve been playing for many years in Manchester and play with players of the highest level.

“Ashley Young is a quality player but I won’t be intimidated. I’ve played with Cristiano Ronaldo and was not intimidated.”

Whispers about Nani leaving began when he, like Berbatov, was left out of the starting line up for the Champions League final against Barcelona, a match that Man United eventually went on to lose comprehensively. Nani was serene when asked about the match, and said that such things were a part and parcel of football. He talked about looking forward to next season and getting into the final if United reached the showpiece again.

“All players want to play a final. I gave my best to be there, but unfortunately did not play because of the technical options and I have to respect that,”

“Now I think about next season and want to be stronger.”

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can pry Nani from Manchester United or if the swashbuckling winger will remain in England next season. Stay tuned for more in this regard.
