Manchester United transfer news: Real Madrid and Barcelona to fight for €100 million superstar and more - September 23, 2018

Watford FC v Manchester United - Premier League
Mourinho might have some cause of worry

Hello and welcome to the Manchester United transfer roundup for the day! After a break of a day, we are back again to bring you the latest news regarding the transfer stories surrounding the Old Trafford.

And so without further ado, let’s begin!

#5 Balague on Pogba

Manchester United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Premier League
The French World Cup-winner has been linked with the Camp Nou ever since the transfer window began but the deal never materialized

Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has revealed that Barcelona will find it difficult to land Paul Pogba. The French World Cup-winner has been linked with the Camp Nou ever since the transfer window began but the deal never materialized as the deadline passed by.

The relationship between Mourinho and Pogba, meanwhile, is beginning to heal after a bout of erratic patches, which somewhat makes a deal less likely to happen.

Nevertheless, he is still being touted to move to the Camp Nou but Balague believes while Pogba might want to move out of the Old Trafford if he has a special reason, the Catalans’ financial constraints means that the former Juventus star is unaffordable for them.

“With Pogba, I think you’re going to see a very special Pogba for two reasons,” he said.

“One is because he has been challenged from his own bench, from his own manager.

“But, if he has a very good season, I think he will look at opportunities from other clubs.

“Barcelona are looking at him right now. But they are also looking at the finances.

“And, right now, they do not have the money Pogba would require to get him out of there and to give him the wages that he needs.”

It is for this very reason that Balague believes that a deal is only likely if Barca is injected with more money. However, he maintained that the two clubs aren’t negotiating at the moment.

“Unless they bring in a lot more money, I don’t see Pogba going to Barcelona easily.

“They are looking to see if he can leave and what fee United would want.

“Right now, though, they are not negotiating. So we will need to keep an eye on that one.”

#4 Herrera to leave?

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Herrera, to leave?

Ander Herrera has been a fan favourite to the United enthusiasts ever since he joined the Old Trafford outfit. The Red Devils paid his release clause to bring him out of Athletic Club in 2014 and he has been at the club ever since.

However, he might not be gracing the pitch at the Old Trafford for long as he is yet to extend his contract with the Red Devils and might as well leave for pastures new.

According to The Sun, after failing to come to an agreement due to talks lack of progress, Herrera could be on his way out of the Theatre of Dreams with Barcelona encircling him. Since his contract runs out next summer, the Catalans can tie him up on a pre-contract after January 1, 2019.

#3 United look to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

SS Lazio v Genoa CFC - Serie A
The Serbian is coveted by many

During the summer transfer window, Manchester United were linked to Lazio’s Milikovic-Savic – especially in the early part of the summer. However, in the end, the deal never took place as the Serbian stayed put at Lazio.

However, that could change soon as both Juventus and Manchester United could be in for the midfielder. According to Calcio Mercato, Juventus was to sign Paul Pogba from the Old Trafford, an operation that could cost at a value in excess of €100 million.

So should Juve buy Pogba, Manchester United could use the cash from that sale and purchase the midfielder from Lazio in the process.

#2 Barcelona interested in Paqueta

Flamengo v Ceara - Brasileirao Series A 2018
Barca also want him

It hasn’t been long since Lucas Paqueta was linked to Manchester United and now, almost like a clockwork, a club might not be pleased with the fact that the Red Devils are looking at a player that even they have targeted.

Enter Barcelona. According to Don Balon, Coutinho is aware of the “betrayal” that is going to happen against Barcelona. Apparently, he knows that Mourinho wants his compatriot and has informed his team-mates that the Portuguese wishes to strengthen his team with the acquisition of the Brazilian.

#1 Real Madrid and Barcelona to fight it out for Pogba

BSC Young Boys v Manchester United - UEFA Champions League Group H
Europe's most wanted?

Interest in Pogba seems to be one the rise as both Spanish and Catalan giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, want to acquire the signature of the French World Cup winner.

According to Don Balon, Pogba is liked a lot at the Bernabeu and they want him to join the Galacticos. However, they can only free up the money and sign him in the summer – and that is something they have conveyed to him.

Meanwhile, according to the Mirror, Barcelona have decided to scout him in every game or the rest of the season. These guys are really serious about the France star, who was bought by United for €100 million in 2016, aren’t they?!
