Used United to get a better deal

Manchester United’s transfer window was one to forget – both for the fans and, especially, Jose Mourinho. The former Real Madrid manager wanted some big-name experienced defenders in his squad but couldn’t bring even one to his name.

Diego Godin, meanwhile, almost joined them but as it turned out, he used the name of the Red Devils to coerce out a better contract with Atletico Madrid. The Red Devils, however, were so confident about completing the deal that they had a private jet ready just for him.

According to Mirror, Manchester United had prepared a private jet to fly him to Manchester from his holiday destination in Sardinia. However, the deal never happened and the Old Trafford outfit were forced to cancel the jet.
