Ozil could reunite with Mourinho at Old Trafford

United looking to sign Mesut Ozil on a free transfer

Mesut Ozil's refusal to sign a new contract along with teammate Alexis Sanchez has been a never-ending saga so far. The German's contract runs out in the summer of 2018 and Wenger's renewal attempts have failed so far.

Thus, Manchester United are looking to jump in and sign Ozil on a free next summer, as per German newspaper Bild. The stylish playmaker has worked with United manager Jose Mourinho before at Real Madrid and the latter is known to be fond of Ozil's qualities.

Losing Ozil to a direct rival will be similar to the Robin van Persie situation and it will be a blow to Arsenal. On the other hand, United could use a player whose creation ability is world-class, especially on a free. Also, Ozil will get to join a side who are better placed to win trophies at the moment.

Manchester United academy chief, Nicky Butt, continues to rejuvenate the youth setup as the Red Devils signed 15-year old Charlie McCann from Coventry City. The homegrown midfielder made his England debut for the U16s over the summer and is rated as one of the brightest young talents at the League Two club.

United are set to pay an undisclosed fee and the lifelong United fan's move received a vote of approval from his Academy head Rich Stevens:

"When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience. We did not want to sell him, we did not need a fee for him even though there was a fee involved."

"Charlie goes with complete support from me and the rest of the staff from the academy. He has been unbelievable for us, even making his England debut back in August."

Now, it remains to be seen whether he makes the grade at Old Trafford.

David de Gea on Zidane's summer wishlist

Manchester United v FC Basel - UEFA Champions League
De Gea is a long-term target for Real Madrid

Real Madrid kicked off their La Liga defence in a shaky fashion with two draws out of three games. De Gea is among the list of players wanted by Real Madrid in the coming year if results do not improve.

Spanish outlet Don Balon reports the club will splash the clash in the coming year if fortunes remain the same. The 26-year old shot-stopper is a long-term target for the Spanish club and would have joined the club if not for a fax machine issue in 2015.

Nevertheless, the Real Madrid president is determined to spend big next summer with the likes of Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Juventus' Paulo Dybala and Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang identified as targets as well.

De Gea is one of the most important players for United and Mourinho will be hoping that they can hold on to the player.
