Only two days remain until the curtains are drawn on yet another transfer window in Europe. Manchester United were expected to make a move for a defender to add steel at the back, but nothing as such has materialised. Instead, the Red Devils are happy to bide their time until the summer to make big moves.

Today's round-up brings positive news for the Old Trafford faithful, with the club close to tying down one of their star performers to a long-term deal. Also, one of the favourites of Jose Mourinho is set to leave the club this week.

On that note, let's have a look at the top stories concerning Manchester United today.

According to reports from Belgian publication HLN, Marouane Fellaini is set to leave Manchester United for Chinese Super League side Shandong Lueneng this week. The 31-year-old is no more the favourite he was during Mourinho's times and has decided to continue his career in Asia.

Shandong Lueneng has offered Fellaini a whopping contract of £9.5m per year, with his weekly wages expected to be around £365,000. The deal would make him the second-highest-paid player in China, behind Brazilian playmaker Oscar who plays for Shanghai SIPG.

United and Shandong are yet to agree on a transfer fee for the Belgian, who extended his contract until 2020. Fellaini has made 177 appearances for the Red Devils as of late, scoring 22 times and assisting 12 other goals in the process.

Manchester United have enough on their plate when it comes to holding on to their players. They are yet to sort out the futures of many, with Juan Mata being high up on that list.

According to reports from Spanish outlet SPORT, a Mata-Coutinho swap deal could be on the cards this summer. Coutinho has already fallen down the pecking order at Nou Camp and Valverde is looking to cash in on the club's record signing.

Mata has yet to put pen to paper to an extension at Old Trafford, which is why the Spaniard has been linked with a move to Barcelona, with his Brazilian counterpart touted to go the other way.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United succeed in landing Coutinho, who has a history with their bitter rivals Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as Manchester United interim boss has brought a fresh wave of positiveness and Anthony Martial extending his stay could well be the highlight of the move.

According to French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Martial has agreed to a new five-year contract until 2024, with the official signing set to take place before Friday.

The Frenchman looked to be at the end of his tether at Old Trafford during Mourinho's reign and was keen on making a switch.

However, Solskjaer's positive impact at the club has changed his mind and he is now ready to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old joined United for £38m from Monaco in 2015. Should he sign the extension, Martial could be joined by a host of other players, with De Gea, Herrera, Mata and Young all waiting for sorting out their futures at the club.
