Manchester United are currently experiencing a slump in form as United have failed to score in their last three league matches against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, and Burnley. The Red Devils had invested a lot in the summer and are said to be planning a major defensive overhaul in the next transfer window as the likes of Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind are set to be offloaded. Jose Mourinho is reported to be interested in bringing his former player, Pepe to the Premier League as the Portuguese is seen by many as a potential target next summer.

Pepe whose contract runs out in the summer is yet to be offered a new contract by Real Madrid as his future hangs in the balance. The 33-year-old had a brilliant last season as the no-nonsense defender won the Champions League with Real and also the prestigious Euros with his national team, Portugal. Earlier this week, Gareth Bale signed a new contract with the Los Blancos which will keep him at the Bernabeu till 2022.

Real manager, Zinedine Zidane had earlier expressed his desire to hand Pepe at least a one-year extension but the club seems to be having doubts over his contribution to the team. His age and poor injury record have made his case difficult as the European champions have opted to play the duo of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos in big games. The latter's injury has given chances to the Portuguese defender this season with the 33-year-old in a good run of form recently.

The likes of Chelsea and Juventus are also rumored to be interested in Real Madrid's Pepe as the veteran defender is unlikely to be offered a new deal. Pepe also had earlier expressed that he would love to play in the Premier League and Jose Mourinho could give him that chance as the duo had a healthy working relationship during their time at Real Madrid.

Jose Mourinho has again been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons as he received a touchline ban against Burnley as United appealed for a penalty which was denied by referee Mark Clattenburg. Mourinho is also set to receive a touchline ban or even a stadium ban for their next match as the FA feels that just a monetary fine for him won't be enough for a repeated offender like the Portuguese.
