Manchester United’s Dutch full-back Alexander Buttner has found first-team chances hard and difficult to come by. He made a rare start in the FA Cup 3rd round exit against Swansea; but is focused and committed in doing his job and wait for his chances.

Recent news has seen him linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Galatasaray and Tottenham touted as his next possible destination, but the Dutchman insists he is happy and wants to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place.

With Moyes looking at Everton’s Leighton Baines or Southampton’s Luke Shaw as possible replacements for the aging Patrice Evra, Buttner may be shipped out against his wishes.

Buttner who set up United’s solitary goal in the 2-1 rout by Swansea, said: “It was nice to play and I want to play every game. I have to wait for my chances.

“It was good for my first game for a while, I’m just disappointed we lost because, if we win, then the feeling is different. I’m very disappointed but I think I did well.

“People know and the players know that if I get the ball I to try to cross it which is why Chicharito got the goal. He knows I will cross it and it was a good goal.

“If people talk about other players in my position, I don’t care. I just want to play my game and show that I can handle the level. I know there are some clubs that want me but I’m happy here and want to play for Manchester United so I focus 100 per cent on here.

“I don’t want to leave. I want to fight for my place. I’m still young and I know what I can do. I just have to wait for my chances and take them.”

United next face Sunderland in the League Cup semi-final first leg clash at the Stadium of Light, and must shake-off their FA Cup defeat and bounce back immediately.

Buttner said: “Of course Tuesday is important, because we’ve lost some games, but I think we have a good squad. I don’t know what the team will be on Tuesday but we will have to see who is playing.

“Everyone is disappointed we lost the game [against Swansea] but, of course, we have to believe in ourselves and try to put it right in the games. If we fight for every ball we can win the games and that is what we have to do.

“Of course, we want to win and need to do everything to win the game. I understand the fans as well, because they want to see us win and we’ve lost a couple of games. So I can understand them [being frustrated].”
