Manchester United legends Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt a.k.a most of the “Class of 92″ are set to reunite and play in a friendly against Salford City, a team they own collectively. David Beckham is also rumoured to feature in the game.

The former players bought Salford City, an Evo-Stik First Division North team, in March with the deal expected to be completed this summer. The pre-season friendly will take place on August 7 at the AJ Bell Stadium to mark the completion of the deal. Proceeds from the match are to be used to fund the club.

In a group statement released on Friday, they said “We are really looking forward to the match, it will certainly be competitive, it will good to play with each other again, it’s been a long time but more importantly we will want to give Salford City a tough game. We are going to ask some familiar faces to play with us and we will be sure it will be an entertaining game for the fans of Salford.”

Salford City chairman, Karen Baird, said about the match “This will be an exciting start for the new season, for the players, the club and most of all the fans. We hope it will be a fun and entertaining evening for everyone whilst raising funds for the club.”
