Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with superstar Marco Reus over a contract extension. The new contract will see the German stay at Dortmund till June 30th, 2019.

Following the completion of his contract extension, Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Managing Director of the club, said, “We never let ourselves be guided by all the rumours. It is a good thing that this exceptional player opted for a future with Dortmund," says Hans -Joachim Watzke.

He added, "Marco can shape an era in Dortmund, as has been done before by Uwe Seeler at Hamburg or Steven Gerrard at Liverpool. That Marco has decided in the midst of a sporting crisis for BVB, shows a high degree of identification, of which we are very proud.

Sporting Director Michael Zorc said, “Marco Reus could change the world with almost every top club. He has shown that his heart beats for his hometown and for his hometown club with his decision. He is a very important component in Borussia Dortmund's sporting future.”

Marco Reus himself said, "I am very happy with my decision. Dortmund is my hometown, and my club is Borussia. I look forward to a successful future with our team and with our fantastic fans behind us. There is plenty to do, and I want to tackle that strongly!"
