Manchester United youngster Marcus Rashford says that he is ready to be his team's number 10 if required.

The 18-year-old, who has impressed for Manchester United and England, has said that he does not have a problem in being the Red Devils' key play maker if manager Jose Mourinho asks him to do so.

Rooney – the playmaker of the team

Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney is the one who currently occupies the playmaker role, however, the 30-year-old has been very poor this season, especially in United's games against Manchester City and Watford.

Since breaking into Manchester United's first team, the Englishman has played as a striker and also as a winger, but the talented youngster has featured in a role behind the main striker for the English club's academy.

Wayne Rooney might have to worry about his place in the starting XI after the criticism he has received from his own fans, and now Rashford has claimed that he can play as United's number 10 if he is required to do so.

Can play as No. 10 – Rashford

"I don't regret playing in the No.10 role because it means now I can still play there if I need to. [Playing as] No.10, on both wings and up front as well. It means I have more in my armoury when it comes to the matches.”

“I used to look up to players who would dribble at people, creating chances, scoring too. But the type of the player I want to be now is different to the type of player I wanted to be then", the young star in his interview with Inside United.

Woeful Rooney

The Red Devils' fans have lost patience with their club's second highest goalscorer after his woeful display against Watford last week when he played as the United's key playmaker behind striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Now, the pressure is on Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho as he has faced three defeats in a row after taking over at the club. Reports state that the Portuguese manager is ready to bench Rooney, who hasn't been able to make any particular impact for the club so far.

It won't be a big a surprise to see Jose Mourinho drop Wayne Rooney from his new look Manchester United next week, and with players like Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitiryan in his side, it remains to be seen if Mourinho have the confidence to play a youngster like Marcus Rashford in the playmaker role.
