Fans running onto the pitch to hug their favourite players has become a common thing now. Especially for players like Messi and Ronaldo, it happens in almost all the friendly matches they play.
One Messi fan in the United States loves his so much that he defied the odds to try and hug Leo Messi. He jumped from the stands and landed right in front of the Barcelona star as he made his way to the dressing room. The Catalan club were to face Leicester City in the International Champions Cup.
But sadly for the fan, he could not manage to get the hug despite landing just a feet or two away from Lionel Messi.The Barcelona star was caught surprised and might have given him the fan a hug too but his security took no chances!
Messi’s security person spotted the fan jumping from the stands and charged down to tackle the fan away from the footballer. The tackle was very similar to something we see very often see in Rugby or WWE.
In WWE terms, the Spear was so good that it would give Roman Reigns a run for his money! Had Jim Ross been doing commentary on it, he would have shouted “AS GOD AS MY WITNESS HE'S BROKEN IN HALF” once again.
Messi might have not rejected the fan’s wish to hug him but his security personnel were taking no chance. The fan who jumped in might have actually got to get the hug from his favourite footballer inside the tunnel but it can neither be denied nor confirmed at this point of time.
Barcelona went on to defeat Leicester City 4-2 thanks to 3 amazing first half assists from Leo Messi which set up Munir twice and Luis Suarez once. Barcelona went into Half-Time leading 3-0 but Ahmed Musa pulled Leicester City back into the game briefly by scoring 2 quick goals. Mujica eventually killed Leicester City hopes in the 84th minute by scoring Barcelona’s fourth goal of the game.
