Messi letting me take the penalty left me speechless, says Neymar

Following Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Bayern Munich, Brazilian national team star and captain Neymar spoke to the press, where he mentioned how Lionel Messi letting him take the penalty instead of taking it himself left him “speechless”. He also talked about his team’s 3-0 win over Bayern, saying the tie was far from over.

He was very open in his praise of Lionel Messi, whose brilliant performance against Bayern helped the Catalans to a 3-0 win. Neymar, however, chose to focus on an earlier instance that happened the previous weekend when they thrashed Cordoba 8-0 in the La Liga. During that win, Messi, who was on a hat-trick, chose to let Neymar take the penalty, rather than completing his treble of goals.

He said, "It's a detail I will never forget. He could have scored a hat-trick, but he left the penalty to me. It left me without words. I learn a lot from him, both on and off the pitch."

Winning the treble has been our goal since the season began: Neymar

Speaking about the win, he said, “Everyone liked it. We produced a really good performance,” as Barcelona moved one step closer to securing a treble, with them leading the La Liga standings and having secured their place in the finals of the Copa del Rey already.

When asked about winning a treble, the Brazilian added, "That was our objective since the beginning of the season and it's getting closer all the time. In La Liga, we have a really difficult game this weekend and we must fight until the end."

He wasn’t ready to talk about opposition for the Champions League final and advised caution when asked about Barcelona’s probable opponent, saying, "[Real] Madrid and Bayern have a lot of quality and can surprise you at any moment. We have to be calm and show humility because there are still 90 very difficult minutes left to be played.”

“Pogba would be a great, quality addition to Barcelona”

When asked about Barcelona’s interest in Paul Pogba, he said that the Frenchman was a great player and that it would be great to have him at the club.

"How he would fit, I don't know -- you would have to ask the coach -- but he is a great player and we would open the gates for him. He is a great star. He is still young, even younger than me. He is a player with such quality, and that is always welcome, " said Neymar.
