Messi turns down £250 million offer!

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has rejected a £250 million offer from a Russian club, according to Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo.

The paper claims an unidentified Russian club made the stupendous offer to activate Messi’s release clause.

All players in Spain are required to have a release clause and as per Spanish rules, Barcelona would be forced to accept an offer activating the clause, which stands at a quarter of a billion.

But more surprisingly, Messi himself rejected the offer when approached by the Russians.

It is claimed that the Argentinian magician, who has scored an incredible 91 goals this calender year, rejected an offer of up to €30 million a year in salary after tax.

Messi reportedly rejected the offer as he wanted to continue winning titles with Barcelona instead of leaving for money in the prime of his career.

He was also not keen on moving to Russia where he would have little knowledge of the language and also the league. The recent birth of his son, Thiago, also made it harder to leave Barcelona.
