Arsenal’s stellar playmaker Mesut Ozil has revealed how the change in style of living and diet has helped him improve his performances on the field. The German international has made a staggering 15 assists in 17 Premier League matches thus far and has broken various records in the process.

The 27-year-old was at his brilliant best against Manchester City, assisting both goals scored by the Gunners. The first goal was scored by Theo Walcott and the second by Olivier Giroud as Arsenal ran out as winners with a 2-1 scoreline. Yaya Toure bagged the solitary goal for the Sky Blues.

I do what I can to avoid injuries: Ozil

The Wold Cup winner is on top of the list of maximum assists made in the league and is just five shy of Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a Premier League season. He disclosed that paying heed to “small details” has helped him raise he level of his performances.

“The biggest change started when I was injured last year and I changed my diet and started to look at the small details in my life,” ex-Real Madrid star said.

“For example, I started to have physiotherapy on my days off and made sure I had a good sleep. That is crucial over here [in England]. It is the fastest league in the world and we often play twice a week with no winter break.”

“I missed playing football that much during my injury. I don't want it to happen again and that's why I do all I do all I can to avoid it happening again.”

My game has not changed: Ozil

Ozil was quizzed about his scintillating form this season and how has he changed his style of play to suit his teammates. He replied to the question saying that he has not changed his playing style, but the forwards are now converting chances created.

“Our forwards now convert my assists. You have to put the numbers into perspective,” Ozil said.

“I've also played a lot of good final passes in the last two seasons, but nobody converted them. This year, our attackers turn my assists into goals, and those assists appear in the stats.

“My game has not changed and it will not change because people argue that I should be more clinical and score more goals. I am the one making the decisions on the pitch, and I make them like I've always made them. When one of my teammates is better positioned, I will pass the ball because I play for the team and not for me.”
