Minnesota United keeper scores hilarious own goal in friendly against Bournemouth

Howe
Eddie Howe off to a winning start

It’s not everyday you manage to pull off the impossible in football. That goes double for scoring an almost impossible own goal. This was the case for the unfortunate Sammy Ndjock the goalkeeper of minnow American football team Minnesota United.

The fact that it was a pre-season friendly did not help his case either as the video was uploaded and is now doing the rounds in the media. Bournemouth are on their pre-season tour, playing several clubs as part of their preparation.

They played the US club as part of their tour of the states. This was their very first pre-season friendly and the Cherries came away with a 4-0 victory over Minnesota. Callum Wilson scored a brace in the game, with Lewis Grabbon grabbing the other goal.

Max Gradel was sent off in the game after getting into a fight with one of the opposition players. But there was no doubt the bizarre own goal was the highlight of the game. The keeper collected the ball and as he prepared to throw his momentum took him towards the goal and it just rolled into the net.

Bournemouth will be playing English sides Portsmouth, Reading and Cardiff in the next few days and finish their pre-season preparation with a highlight fixtures against Spanish side Valencia.

Bournemouth had an impressive campaign in the 2015/16 managing to not only stay up but also claim some big scalps on the way. Eddie How had been linked with the England job in recent days but he has apparently told his friends he is not interested in the offer.

Here is the video of the own goal:
