The 31-year-old centre-back’s contract expires in the summer and whilst there was speculation in his homeland earlier in the summer that a new deal was about to be signed, it hasn’t happened so far.

David Moyes is keen for the Serbian to extend his 7-year stay at Old Trafford, but admitted Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward is yet to open talks with Vidic’s representatives.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson last week heaped praise on him by singling the United skipper out for special praise. And Moyes agrees with Ferguson’s assessment of Vidic. Moyes has also stated that he is impressed with the Serbian defender.

Vidic is still one of the best centre-backs in the business today and that is why after 7 years, he is still first choice when it comes to the Red Devils’ defence. There is only one flipside to this and that’s his injuries. So right now we have to wait and see how does it goes. His form has been very good and we just hope that he gets through and doesn’t pick up any more injuries.
