Manchester United v Sunderland - Premier League

In a controversial turn of events, EPL side Manchester United have left out Serbian international Nemanja Vidic out of the club’s Asia tour. The club has not yet cited any reason behind the omission of Vidic, who is the captain of the side.

However, there have been reports suggesting Vidic’s absence may be due to the treatment he is undergoing for his knee.

Vidic is not the only top player to miss the tour. Dutchman Robin van Persie and Spaniard David de Gea will miss the game against Singha All Stars in Bangkok. Japanese international Shinji Kagawa will join the team on July 21. De Gea and Kagawa were given extra time off after the Confederations cup.

However, van Persie and de Gea will be available for the second match against A-League All Stars in Sydney.

Chris Smalling, Ashley Young and Nani also will not feature in the first match as they are still recuperating from their injuries.

Wayne Rooney, despite all the talks surrounding his potential move away from Old Trafford has been included into the squad.
