Liverpool fans have taken to social media to attack Real Madrid forward Endrick after Ibrahima Konate was ruled out of contention due to injury. The French centre-back collided with the young Endrick while racing for the ball in his final third, seemingly injuring the young Brazilian's knee.
Konate has been a key defender for the Reds this season, playing in 11 Premier League games. They have a big match coming up this weekend (December 1) against Manchester City at Anfield, but he has been ruled out. The defender wrote on social media later (via GOAL):
"So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night. Now we start the recovery process, but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again..."
The situation has upset many Liverpool fans, who took to Endrick's Instagram page to slam the Real Madrid forward with comments. He had posted this image ahead of their Champions League clash:
In the comments, though, fans posted:
"ACL loading"
"Should not be playing football"
"Learn how to kick a ball instead of other people’s leg…"
"Wishing for endrick's acl"
"So disgusted of what you did to Konate. Not an act of sportsmanship. U should not be playing football and ruin the game."
"Please go play karate instead of playing football"
Liverpool boss Arne Slot provides update on Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate after Real Madrid clash
Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate were vital in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Real Madrid at Anfield, but they ended up injured. Ahead of their match against Manchester City on Sunday (December 1), Reds boss Arne Slot has shared an update about the duo.
He doesn't think they will be able to partake in the upcoming game against the Cityzens, telling the press (via Mirror):
“Still being assessed so difficult to see where they are in terms of the injury. Let’s wait and see but it is never a good sign. Conor, I had to take him off, and Ibou didn’t walk off the pitch as he should after such a fantastic game he had, he should have made a round and clapped the fans.
“It is so close after the game last night, so I can’t tell you exactly where they are this weekend and after that."
Liverpool are first in the UEFA Champions League with five wins from five games, some distance away from holders Real Madrid, who are 24th after their third loss in five outings.
