Barcelona did not enjoy a good transfer window as they failed to sign most of their targets due to a plethora of reasons. As if to compound their misery, the players they let go during the window are how shining at their new clubs.

All that and more in today's Barcelona news roundup as on 8th October 2020:

Marc Cucurella explains why he didn't shine at Barcelona

Marc Cucurella, who moved to Getafe permanently this summer, has been in top form for the Spanish side. He was keen on succeeding at Barcelona too but could not do so as he did not get enough opportunities.

During an interaction with Radio Marca, the 22-year-old said that he was ready to break into the Barcelona starting-XI, but that didn't happen. The Spain U21 captain said in this regard:

"Due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to show what I could do at Barcelona. But that has allowed me to develop at Eibar and Getafe. Staying in Barcelona wasn't up to me. If I have the chance (to go back) one day... we'll see. Clearly the style at Getafe is different to that at La Masia. But adapting to (Jose) Bordalas' game has made me grow, and that's positive for me. Having different things in my locker gives me an advantage."

Memphis Depay says that he almost joined Barcelona

Memphis Depay was apparently keen on moving to Barcelona this summer, but the 'dream' move did not materialse for the player as the Catalan club reportedly did not have the funds to make the move.

Talking to the media (via SPORT), Memphis Depay said that he was looking forward to joining his compatriot Ronald Koeman at Barcelona but is now focused on Lyon:

"I was quite close to (joining) Barca. Only technicalities stopped me from signing. We don't need to get into all the details, but there were certain rules that unfortunately stopped them from buying us. Now I'm focused on Olympique Lyon, and I want to be important there again. Later we'll see how things go, but it's possible the interest there will remain."

Josep Bartomeu determined to remain as Barcelona president

Over 18,000 signatures have been collected to remove Josep Bartomeu as the president of Barcelona. The vote of no-confidence in this regard has taken place, but Bartomeu reportedly has no plans to resign from his post.

Catalan TV has reported that Bartomeu is now more committed to continuing in his post than ever before. However, all is not well for the embattled Barcelona president as three more executives are expected to resign from the board soon.
