Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's reasons for team selection against Fulham

Speaking ahead of the win over Fulham, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp explained the reasons behind his team selection for the game. The German boiled it down to squad rotation in the final stages of a tightly contested title race.

Klopp put out a starting lineup that saw five changes made from the side knocked out by Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals last week (April 18). During an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp started by confirming Salah is fit and will come on the pitch. He then said (via This is Anfield):

“We play three super important games in six days, I hate thinking about the game after the one in front of us but, in our situation, we cannot ignore the fact."
"We have to make changes to get fresh legs in, to use the squad. It’s the best situation we’ve had squad-wise all year, that’s why we do it.”

Liverpool have recorded 22 wins, eight draws, and three losses in 33 Premier League fixtures this season. They sit behind league-leaders Arsenal in second on goal difference, while Manchester City trail a point behind in third with a game in hand.
