Fans lambasted Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham on social media after his torrid outing in his side's 4-0 thrashing at the hands of El Clasico rivals Barcelona (October 26). The Englishman had an evening to forget, barely getting any involvement in the game as his side succumbed to a disappointing defeat.
Bellingham won just five out of his 11 duels, completed just 13 passes, committed two fouls and missed a big chance (stats via FotMob). While he completed a few good passes for Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, he was not in the thick of the action for most of the game.
Fans were livid with the 21-year-old, taking to X to vent their frustrations. @TobyEvenden wrote:
"Jude Bellingham is better the less you watch him."
@elsdawg opined:
"Jude Bellingham has mastered the art of looking busy on a football pitch. The casuals love it, the analytics guys love it, I see through it. He is not elite in any sense of the word, closer to a Scott McTominay than a Palmer, Pedri or a Musiala . A 6/10 on his best day. Overrated."
Here are some more fan reactions:
"Pedri absolutely shi**ing on Bellingham, this is one of the most humiliating things i’ve ever seen," @FCBJimmy_ wrote.
"Pedri showed Bellingham that he’s his biological father tonight," @XaviTempo added.
"Bellingham zero goals this season… Yikes. Pedri twice the player he is," @JFrizz92 claimed.
"Bellingham and McTominay, no difference," @songsofsyrax compared the Englishman to the former Manchester United midfielder.
"Don't talk about Bellingham again," @Hamsxi wrote.
"Real Madrid fans wanted Bellingham to show up and he dipped," @musaaskofu wrote.
Posting a picture of ex-Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, @elIisburner compared him to the Los Blancos man, captioning the picture:
"Jude Bellingham when he isn’t scoring."
"Palmer on his Bad day is Bellingham on his best day, Cold Boy too clear," @pbtips_ claimed.
Bellingham is yet to open his goalscoring account for the season and has bagged just three assists in 11 appearances for Real Madrid across all competitions.
"I do not regret" - Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti makes claim after 4-0 loss to Barcelona
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti claimed that he did not have any regrets after suffering a heavy 4-0 loss at the hands of Barcelona in El Clasico. The Italian said that his side were good during the first half of the game.
In his post-match press conference, the 65-year-old said (via TNT Sports):
"I do not regret my game plan. I have been in football 48 years, so I'm not wrong when I tell you that the first-half was good. It's different from the loss against Lille. We were very bad that day. We competed today."
Despite the crushing defeat, Ancelotti expressed hope for the future, claiming that there is a long season ahead.
"We have to learn from this. Self-criticism is fundamental. But we don't throw everything in the bin. Last time we lost 4-0 to Barcelona, we won La Liga and the Champions League. We fight on."
The defeat ended Real Madrid's 42-game unbeaten streak stretching all the way back to September 2023. The Merengues will be hoping to regroup and start anew in their next game, a LaLiga fixture against Valencia (November 2).
