Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was named the man of the match after scoring a brace for Al-Nassr in their 2-0 win over Damac on Friday, November 29. The talismanic forward continued his impressive goalscoring form, inspiring his side to a much-needed win in the Saudi Pro League.
In the 17th minute, Ronaldo converted from the spot to open the scoring on the night. In the 79th minute, he swept a cross from left-back Nawaf Boushal into the back of the net. His side defended the two-goal cushion for a solid victory.
The Portuguese forward also completed 27/32 passes (84%) and created two chances during the course of the game. It was the fourth straight fixture for club and country in which he scored at least a goal, with three of the four games seeing him bag a brace.
Ronaldo now has 20 goals and four assists for club and country in 23 games this season. Despite being 39 years of age and in the twilight of his career, he has shown no signs of slowing down.
Although he is firing on all cylinders, Al-Nassr have endured a topsy-turvy 2024-25 campaign. They currently sit third in the SPL, with 25 points after 12 rounds of fixtures (seven wins, four draws, one loss).
Their fortunes have been better in the AFC Champions League Elite, however. Powered by Ronaldo's five goals (five appearances) in the competition, they have accrued 13 points after five games (four wins, one draw) and sit third in Group B.
Cristiano Ronaldo is nearing the incredible milestone of 1000 goals for club and country
After his brace against Damac, Portuguese marksman Cristiano Ronaldo's career goalscoring tally for club and country has risen to a whopping 915 goals.
Ronaldo burst onto the scene as a 17-year-old at his boyhood club Sporting CP. He bagged five goals and six assists in 31 games for the Portuguese giants before making the big move to Premier League juggernauts Manchester United in 2003.
He announced himself on the global stage with the Red Devils, racking up 118 goals and 59 assists in 292 appearances. He then made a blockbuster move to Real Madrid, where he established himself as one of the greatest players in the history of football.
In 438 appearances for Real, he had a club-record 450 goals and 131 assists, averaging almost 1.33 goal contributions per game. He moved on to Italian giants Juventus in 2018, bagging 101 goals and 22 assists in a three-year stint at the club.
A return to Manchester United followed but was shortlived after problems with the management and administration. Before the termination of his contract (November 2022) and his subsequent move to Al-Nassr (January 2023), he managed 27 goals and five assists in 54 games for the Red Devils.
For Al-Nassr, he has racked up 73 goals and 18 assists in 82 appearances thus far, putting his career total at 915 goals and 241 assists. For Portugal, he registered 135 goals and 45 assists in 215 games, being the all-time top international scorer in men's football. At his current goalscoring rate, he is predicted to breach the incredible 1000-goal milestone at the age of 41 in 2026.
