Lamine Yamal was an integral part of Spain's squad in the UEFA Nations League as La Roja reached the finals. However, after a 2-2 draw, they lost 5-3 on penalties to Portugal in the final. Yamal made seven appearances for Spain in the tournament, recording three goals and one assist.

In an interview with El Chiringuito TV, former Real Madrid midfielder Guti called out Lamine Yamal's choice of attire for his press conference with the Spanish national team. He said (via Barca Universal):

"I didn't like Lamine Yamal going to the press conference with his hat turned backwards. You do these things on vacation or in your personal life, not with the club or the national team."

The former Los Blancos star claimed that Yamal has a lack of correct guidance and added (via Barca Universal):

"It’s not his fault. It’s the fault of the people standing next to him who don’t say ‘no way’. It’s not Lamine’s fault, he ultimately does what he wants. It’s the fault of him being there and having to tell him, ‘hey, not with the cap on in a press conference with the Spanish national team."

Lamine Yamal has been exceptional for both club and country this season. He won the domestic treble with Barcelona, with LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España. The 17-year-old is expected to stand high in this year's Ballon d'Or rankings, having been key to La Blaugrana's triumph under Hansi Flick.

In an interview with ESPN after Barcelona's second LaLiga victory against Real Madrid this season, Lamine Yamal made bold comments about their bitter rivals. The 17-year-old said the Catalans do not fear Madrid, and claimed:

"It doesn't feel good when Madrid beat you. It's true we didn't beat them last year, we suffered, and this year we gave everything to turn it around. We don't have that fear of them that maybe other teams have against them. So we gave it our all. We feel like we're better than every other tea;, that's the mentality we go out with."

Yamal continued:

"I think that's how you have to play against them. You have to show up like you're the better team and enjoy yourself, that's it."

Yamal has been exceptional in every Clasico this season, either scoring or assisting in each of the four games. Barcelona beat Real Madrid in all four of their clashes, including the Supercopa de España and the Copa del Rey finals.
