Coming off a 2-2 La Liga draw at Celta Vigo at the weekend, Barca broke the deadlock through Robert Lewandowski from the spot inside 10 minutes. After Dani Olmo made the points safe in the 86th minute, good work from Pedri led to Lewandowski completing his brace in stoppage time to round off a resounding win.

Fans went ga ga over the Euro 2024 winner's performance, with one tweeting:

"Give Pedri the keys, and he'll unlock every door. He won't get an assist from thta, and the Lewandowski's will be all Lewandowski's, but that goal was almost all him. Simply a magician."

With the win, Barca are second in the standings, behind Inter Milan on goal difference. But Liverpool will return to the top if they avoid defeat at home to holders Real Madrid on Wednesday, having won their opening four games.

Barcelona have had a superb start to life under new boss Hansi Flick, who replaced club legend Xavier Hernandez in the summer. The Blaugrana are atop the La Liga standings, four points clear of Real Madrid, having played one more game.

Following their midweek win at Brest, Flick's side take on Las Palmas at home on Saturday in the league, where they are winless in two games, losing one. Barca are looking to win their second La Liga title in three years.

Before their UEFA Champions League matchday six trip to Borussia Dortmund on December 11, the Blaugrana have two more league games to negotiate. Following the Las Palmas clash this weekend, they take on RCD Mallorca and Real Betis - both on the road.
