Lionel Messi's multiple records and achievements have never seized to amaze fans for the last two decades. In a post on X, all of the Argentine's incredible records during his time playing for Barcelona in La Liga resurfaced to the surprise of many.

Lionel Messi's La Liga records include most wins, goals scored, assists, La Liga best players awards, hat-tricks and direct free-kicks scored, among many others.

X users were in awe of how Messi dominated La Liga, and many took to the platform to appreciate La Pulga's greatness. Here are some of the reactions:

Some users also pointed out that Messi has spent a lot of time compared to other players while playing in the La Liga. La Pulga spent 17 years in the Spanish top flight.

Lionel Messi spent 17 years playing for Barcelona in La Liga between 2004 to 2021.

In 778 games for the Blaugrana across competitions, he scored 672 goals and provided 303 assists. La Pulga is widely considered the greatest Blaugrana legend of all time and one of the best players to grace the Spanish league.


When Lionel Messi spoke about a possible return to Barcelona

In a 2023 interview to L'Equipe, Lionel Messi discussed a possible return to his boyhood club Barcelona. La Pulga has always expressed his dissatisfaction about the circumstances under which he had to leave the club and spoke of his wish to return in some capacity.

Speaking to the publication, Lionel Messi revealed that while he had the chance to return to Barca in the summer of 2023 as a free agent, the situation was not conducive, as it was similar to how he had to leave the club and join Paris St-Germain in 2021.

"I could have returned, but it wasn't like that. It was something similar to what happened in 2021.
"It was very similar to having to go to Paris in 2021. I thought about returning to Barca, about my life there, about retiring there as I always wanted, but it wasn't possible." the Argentine said.

Further, he revealed that "there was no chance" for him to return to the club on loan from the MLS club Inter Miami. However, he said that he still follows Barcelona and believe they have a chance of doing well with a mix of old and young talents.

"Evidently I follow them as (I did) when I was in Paris. It seems to me that the team has evolved well after the arrival of Xavi, with a mix of young and more experienced players like Lewandowski or Kounde.

"The young people have an excellent level. There is a beautiful team, and they have a chance to do great things this year." he added.

Following Lionel Messi's departure, Barcelona won one La Liga title and one Spanish Super Cup. It remains to be seen whether they go far in the Champions League or win the league this team with multiple talented academy graduates at their disposal.
