Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has made his prediction for Liverpool's Premier League trip to Fulham on Sunday (April 21).

The Reds are coming off a surprise 1-0 home loss to Crystal Palace last weekend in the league, scuppering a chance to climb atop the standings. They're third in the points table after 32 games, two points behind leaders Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp's side will be coming into the fixture following a UEFA Europa League quarterfinal second leg at Atalanta in midweek, hoping to fight back from a 3-0 first-leg home loss.

Regardless of how they fare in Italy, Sutton predicts the Reds to draw 1-1 at Craven Cottage this weekend, writing in his column for the BBC:

"All three games between these teams this season have been close, and I am expecting more of the same on Sunday. Liverpool won a thriller 4-3 at Anfield in the league, followed by a 2-1 home win in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final. I was at Craven Cottage for the second leg, which ended up a 1-1 draw.
"This is a must-win for Jurgen Klopp's side to keep their title hopes alive, because their season has started to unravel. We will have to wait and see whether Liverpool can turn their Europa League tie around with Atalanta on Thursday, or if Klopp picks a team to even try to rescue their 3-0 deficit."

He concluded:

"What happens there will tell us a lot about where Liverpool are at, but if they show any weaknesses at the weekend, Fulham are good enough to punish them."

The Reds won the reverse fixture 4-3 at home to Fulham in December.

"We need to do a much better job than the first leg" - Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson ahead of Atalanta trip

Liverpool custodian Alisson reckons the team cannot afford to repeat their first-leg mistakes if they are to turn around the tie against Atalanta away from home.

The Reds suffered a surprising lopsided defeat, with a Gianluca Scamacca brace and a late strike from Mario Pasalic flooring the Premier League giants. Ahead of the second leg at Atalanta on Thursday (April 18), Alisson said (as per BBC):

"We have come here to improve our performance from the last game and try to play better as a team. We have to try to avoid some mistakes and do better. They are a very physical side, technically and tactically too.
"They did an outstanding job, and we produced a bad performance. This match could be a different kettle of fish, but we need to do a much better job than the first leg."

The Reds won their first title of the season in the EFL Cup.
