Manchester United fans on X have blasted Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he had an outing to forget in their FA Cup semi-final win against Coventry City. The Red Devils narrowly won 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 3-3 in normal time at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, April 21.
Erik ten Hag and Co. made a dominant start to the game, taking the lead via Scott McTominay in the 23rd minute. Harry Maguire's header in stoppage time (45+1') and Bruno Fernandes' strike gave them a comfortable 3-0 lead in the 58th minute.
However, all hell broke loose as Coventry got back into the game in the 71st minute through Ellis Simms' well-struck volley. Callum O'Hare's effort deflected off Aaron Wan-Bissaka, looping over Andre Onana to make it 3-2 eight minutes later.
Coventry won a penalty in the 92nd minute after Wan-Bissaka handled the ball in the box from Binks' cross. Haji Wright sent Onana the wrong way to send the game to extra time.
Manchester United barely held on in the second half of extra time. Simms's shot struck the bar before Victor Torp found the back of the net in the 121st minute. Even though Wan-Bissaka appeared guilty of playing the Coventry players onside in the build-up, after a VAR review, the goal was chalked off for the narrowest of offsides.
Fans expressed their anger at Wan-Bissaka for his performance. The 26-year-old full-back lost four duels, conceded a penalty - letting Coventry back into the game, and nearly allowed them to score a late winner.
