“In three months, Madrid has had 11 muscle injuries" - Real Madrid manager laments injury struggles ahead of Liverpool clash
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti lamented his side's injury woes in the build-up to their UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool. The reigning european champions have been plagued with injuries that have prevented them from reaching their best level this season.
Speaking to the press in the buildup to his side's trip to Anfield, Ancelotti said (via Diario AS):
“In three months, Madrid has had 11 muscle injuries. Is there anything else? Yes, but we have also had seven defeats. Avoiding this is complicated. It is difficult, because it is not only Madrid’s problem, but also other teams’. Each team handles these things in their own way, but what does not change are the injuries. We have to put up with this."
The Italian tactician added:
“We have to think like last year, that injuries are an opportunity to be better. It is no coincidence that the injuries of Lucas, Militao, and Rodrygo have changed the dynamic of the team.”
Real Madrid ended their impressive unbeaten streak against Liverpool with a 2-0 loss at Anfield. The English giants have maintained their 100% record in the Champions League.
