The Gunners, who lost the Premier League title to the Reds last weekend, are second with 67 points from 34 league outings now. They will take on Bournemouth, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Southampton in the last four league fixtures this season.

During a recent interaction on Sky Sports, Carragher claimed that Mikel Arteta's outfit are still in danger of not finishing runners-up behind Arne Slot's side. He said (h/t Metro):

"I still think Newcastle and Manchester City can still actually catch Arsenal. I do, just with the situation Arsenal have with the Champions League, they have got Bournemouth at home which won't be easy. Then they go to Anfield [next Sunday] and also have to play Newcastle as well. I think it goes right to the wire."

Asked to offer his top-four prediction, the ex-Reds defender added:

"I keep changing. I've always had Nottingham Forest in but unfortunately, I don't think they are going to make it now. I think Aston Villa might make a late push. I still think Chelsea will find it difficult, looking at their fixtures."

While Arsenal are on 67 points, Manchester City are in third spot with 64 points from 35 league outings. Newcastle are fourth with 62 points from 34 games and Chelsea are fifth with 60 points from 34 matches as well.

Arsenal backed to win next league clash

In his Sportskeeda column, Gunners legend Paul Merson predicted a 2-1 win for Mikel Arteta's side in the league encounter against Bournemouth on May 3. He wrote:

"If Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest win this weekend, Arsenal not winning against Bournemouth will be a problem. Suddenly, that second-place will start to come under threat from the chasing pack and they don't want that! So they could be forced to start the likes of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice among others once again."

The Gunners have lost just once in their last 13 games in all competitions but have registered just six wins in the aforementioned period of time.

The north London club boast an excellent head-to-head record against Bournemouth. They have registered eight wins and one loss in their past 10 meetings across competitions against Andoni Iraola's team, who are on 50 points from 34 league games so far.
