Cristiano Ronaldo shared an interesting story involving his son Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is one of the richest athletes in the world. He came through poverty in his younger days but his hard work and success over several years have now put him in a comfortable position.

However, Ronaldo still holds the value of hard work and wants to pass on the same message to his son, who is naturally oblivious to the financially harder days his father spent in his younger years.

Talking about how his son asked for a mobile phone, Ronaldo shared an interesting story in an interview back in 2022:

“I think we have to take advantage of [technology] but we shouldn’t be obsessed with it. For example, I can give you a small impression. My oldest child is going to be 12 years old soon and he asks me every time, ‘Daddy, can I have a phone, can I have a phone, can I have a phone,’ I say to him, ‘Cristiano, you have time.'"

Ronaldo continued:

“I ask him to wait for the future. One day, Junior asked me for an iPhone to call me but I told him no. If he wants to call me he should through his grandmother. It’s not easy getting anything he wants.”

Despite having enough money to buy most things in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo believes that education is the best gift he can give his children.

“Education is the best thing I could give him.”

Ronaldo continued to stress on the fact that hard work will triumph over talent and resources.

“And this is what I try to instill in Cristiano Jr. and whenever I visit schools. What I try to get across is today, having talent is not enough. What I try to passing on kids is with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything you want.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has found his form at Al Nassr after suffering at Manchester United earlier this season

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to his former club Manchester United in the summer of 2021. He enjoyed a personally good first season, scoring 24 goals in 37 games for the club across competitions.

However, post the arrival of Erik ten Hag this summer, Ronaldo's game time was reduced. Marred by other controversies and rumors of him becoming a problem in the dressing room and an interview where he openly criticized the club, Ronaldo ended his contract with Manchester United by mutual agreement.

He joined Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr in December 2021. Ronaldo has scored 12 goals and laid down two assists in 16 games.
