Spain's Dean Huijsen revealed what he told the referee during halftime after his goal was disallowed against France in the Nations League semifinal on Thursday, June 5.
Lamine Yamal took a short free-kick and chipped the ball to Martin Zubimendi, who played a header in front of Dean Huijsen. The former Bournemouth defender scored a spectacular goal on the volley, but it was called offside.
During the half-time, the Spanish defender jokingly asked the match referee how he could disallow an impressive goal. He told COPE (via Madrid Universal):
"At half-time I joked with the referee and told him... 'Damn, you can't disallow a goal like that!' He told me it was offside by a whisker. It's a shame."
La Roja beat France 5-4 in the UEFA Nations League semifinal. Nico Williams (23') and Mikel Merino (25') scored for Spain in the first half. Subsequently, goals by Lamine Yamal (54') and Pedri (55') helped the 2024 EURO champions secure a 4-0 lead.
Kylian Mbappe then got one goal back for France with a penalty (59'). Yamal made the score 5-1 in the 67th minute. Les Bleus ignited a comeback as Rayan Cherki's goal came in the 79th minute, and Dani Vivian scored an own goal (84').
Randal Kolo Muani scored the final goal of the night, but France fell one goal short, losing 5-4. La Roja will face Portugal in the Nations League final on Sunday. June 8.

Dean Huijsen has dubbed Cristiano Ronaldo as 'one of the best in history' ahead of the Nations League final clash between Spain and Portugal on June 8.
The Spanish defender said that facing the Al-Nassr captain was a dream for many football players, but he was also ready for the challenge. The new Real Madrid signing told COPE (via Madrid Universal):
"For me, he is one of the best in history, for every kid, for every youngster who plays against Cristiano Ronaldo, it's like a dream to play against him. Let's see if I can stop him."
Portugal defeated Germany in the Nations League semifinal 2-1. Florian Wirtz broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, but Chico Canceicao (65') found the equalizer after 15 minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equaliser (68') for Os Navegadores, sending his side into the final.
