LaLiga president Javier Tebas has called out Real Madrid star Vinicus Jr for allegedly watching his side's game against Liverpool illegally. The president of the Spanish top flight spoke in response to a picture shared by the Brazilian that showed a TNT Sports logo.
Vinicius shared an Instagram story during Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, November 27. The rights to the Champions League in Spain are held by Movistar. Tebas did not appreciate Vinicius watching the game outside the prescribed channels and said in response (via The Madrid Zone):
"During the Liverpool vs Real Madrid game, Vinicius Jr put a picture on his Instagram watching it, and you can see the TNT Sports logo on his screen. This is PIRACY. When you're in Spain, you have to watch UCL games through Movistar."
Vinicius missed Los Blancos' 2-0 defeat to the English giants due to an injury he picked up in the previous game. He has a tense relationship with Spanish football authorities due to him not being impressed by how they have handled racism in the past.
"Always one step forward and two steps back at the moment" - Real Madrid star apologizes to fans after Liverpool loss
Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham apologized to the club's fans on Instagram following his side's loss to Liverpool in the Champions League. The defeat sees the European champions lose their unbeaten streak against the English side that goes back 15 years.
Bellingham joined the club in the summer of 2023 from Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of €113 million. He scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 42 games to help the side to LaLiga, Supercopa de Espana, and UEFA Champions League glory last season. He also secured a Ballon d'Or podium finish (3rd) in his debut season as a Madridista.
Following his side's recent loss to Liverpool, the Englishman took to his Instagram to apologize to the club fans who made the journey to Anfield. He wrote via his story:
"Always one step forward and two steps back at the moment, really disappointing performance and result despite the brilliant opponent. Must thank and apologise to all the Madridistas that followed us in England. No point dwelling on what we can no longer change, we have to remain together and push each other in this next important stretch of games! Hala Madrid Siempre."
Bellingham has had a less explosive sophomore season for Real Madrid, with the midfielder bagging only two goals and four assists in 15 games. He will hope he and his teammates can salvage Los Blancos UEFA Champions League season and retain their crown at the final in Munich. The Spanish giants are currently in 24th place with six points from five games in the competition.
