Fans reacted to striker Robert Lewandowski's performance in Barcelona's 2-1 La Liga home loss to Las Palmas on Saturday (November 30). The Blaugrana have run out of steam after a bright start to their campaign.
Coming to the Las Palmas game, after a goalless first half, Sandro Ramirez put the visitors ahead four minutes into the second period. The in-form Raphinha hauled Hansi Flick's side level just past the hour mark, but Fabio Silva restored Las Palmas' lead six minutes later as they held on for all three points.
Fans were unhappy with Lewandowski missing a litany of chances and not playing on his teammates instead of trying to score himself, with one tweeting:
"Lewandowski wants to do all the scoring. ... he needs to know he's not going to score in every game and learn to pass the ball sometimes"
Another chimed in:
"It's about time Flick started benching Lewandowski. The guy is so selfish."
There were similar reactions from other fans, with one tweeting:
"Robert Lewandowski is a shame to this club."
Another wrote:
"Barcelona really need a new striker mhen. We can't keep relying on this Lewandowski on/off form"
One fan posted:
"Lewandowski. We cannot give him another season!! This needs to be his last season here at Barca!!!"
Another wrote on X:
"Lewandowski there is no way you get away with the number of chances u missed today"
One fan posted:
"Bruh, Lewandowski, you ain't Iniesta. I respect you, but you're a striker. Your touches. Pain"
Another commented:
"There's no way Lewandowski should be our striker going into next season."
Following their third winless league game - losing two - Barca remain atop the standings, leading Real Madrid by four points, having played two games more.
What's next for Barcelona?
Barcelona have had a decent season under new boss Hansi Flick. Although they have faltered in recent matches, especially in the league, Barca have fared well across competitions.
As mentioned above, they lead the standings in La Liga after 15 minutes but will be overtaken by holders Real Madrid if they win their two games in hand. In the UEFA Champions League, Barca are coming off a 3-0 home win over Brest to climb to third in the points table after five matchdays.
They next take on RCD Mallorca away in the league on Tuesday (December 3) as they look to win their first La Liga title in two years. Following an away meeting with Real Betis four days later, Barca host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on December 11.
