New Real Madrid signing Dean Huijsen is looking forward to facing club legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The new Los Blancos signing also termed the Portuguese one of the best in history.
Speaking to COPE, Huijsen said that he was ready to challenge himself against Ronaldo when the two face off in the UEFA Nations League final this week. He added that it was a dream for every youngster to play against the Real Madrid legend and said (via MadridUniversal):
“For me he is one of the best in history, for every kid, for every youngster who plays against Cristiano Ronaldo it’s like a dream to play against him. Let’s see if I can stop him.”
Lamine Yamal is also keen on going up against Ronaldo and told RTVE (via ESPN):
"It will be an even final against Portugal, just like this game. They have world class players like France. It's a game between two really good sides and I hope the best team wins and we take the trophy back to Spain."
Spain coach Luis de la Fuente is also among those looking forward to facing the Al Nassr superstar in the UEFA Nations League final. He told the media after the win over France (via IE):
“We’re playing against one of the greats: Cristiano Ronaldo. Just his name stands out — I have limitless admiration for him. It’s really great to see a player at his age to keep playing and be as fit as he is. I admire him very much.”
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner as Portugal beat Germany 2-1 in the semifinal to seal their place in the final. Spain beat France 5-4 in the other semifinal, with Yamal scoring a brace.
Cristiano Ronaldo urged to make Sporting CP return by Real Madrid legend
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly in contract talks with Al Nassr, and Fernando Morientes believes it is the ideal time for him to leave Saudi Arabia. He thinks a Real Madrid return is impossible, but the fairytale ending for the Portuguese star would be finishing his career with Sporting CP.
He told CasinoHawks (via GOAL):
“I think when a player of that age joins the Saudi Pro League, it’s to finish his professional footballing career and begin retirement. I don’t know if he has any special motivation to wear a shirt; for example, Sporting Lisbon’s was where he started. Obviously, Real Madrid’s [return] is almost impossible now."
Ronaldo left Real Madrid in 2018 after spending nine seasons with the Spanish giants. He is yet to sign a new deal at Al Nass, but is expected to stay.
