Premier League giants Liverpool have 'concrete interest' in signing Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford in the upcoming transfer window, according to reports from Football Insider.

A Manchester City's youth academy graduate, Trafford spent time on loan at Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers in the early stages of his career.

His big breakthrough came in the form of the Under-21 European Championships in 2023. He did not concede a single goal throughout England's six games in the tournament, saving a 98th-minute penalty in the final against Spain as well.

His exploits at the tournament earned him a reported €17.3 million move to newly-promoted Burnley at the start of the 2023-24 season. Even though the Clarets have struggled in the Premier League, and are entrenched in a relegation battle, Trafford has been greatly impressive.

James Trafford has made 28 appearances in the league, keeping only two clean sheets due to Burnley's inexperienced, leaky defense. However, he has made 106 saves, which is joint-ninth highest in the league, and has looked solid in general.

With Alisson turning 32 this year, and rumors linking Caoimhin Kelleher with a move away from Anfield, Liverpool could be eager to bring in Trafford as their future shot-stopper.

The Reds could have him be mentored and groomed by the Brazilian, who is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment. He could become a great backup option until he grows in confidence and quality, and could even replace Alisson in the starting lineup down the line.

Trafford's contract at Burnley lasts till 2027, which could make things tricky for Liverpool in terms of a transfer in the upcoming window.

€30 million-rated star expresses interest in joining Arne Slot at Liverpool, club already expecting departure

Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida has reportedly expressed great interest in following current manager Arne Slot to Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window.

The 23-year-old can be deployed anywhere across the backline or as a defensive midfielder, showcasing incredible physicality, pace and defensive prowess. He is a key member of Slot's squad, captaining the team for almost the entirety of the season.

In 44 games this season, he has not only kept 19 clean sheets but has also contributed seven goals and four assists, making it his most prolific season ever.

Geertruida attended Liverpool's most recent game, a 2-2 draw against West Ham in the Premier League, during his time off training. This has only added fuel to the fiery rumors linking him with a move to Anfield, according to reports from De Telegraaf.

Liverpool are expected to announce the appointment of Slot as Jurgen Klopp's successor within the next few days. It will be really interesting to see if makes Geertruida the first signing of his Reds tenure.
