Liverpool hero Sadio Mane recently got married to Aisha Tamba. The 18-year-old is continuing her studies and received a rousing welcome when she went back to her school.

The couple tied the knot in an Islamic ceremony on January 7, with Mane set to travel to Cote d'Ivoire for the Africa Cup of Nations.

When the teenage bride returned to her school in Mbao, Dakar, she was surprised by the students and staff, all of whom gathered to welcome her. According to Senenews (via The Daily Mail), the crowd had chants and songs where they called her 'Sadio amenda jabar - Aissa amena jekeur,' which translates to 'Madame Sadio Mane'.

Mane's best friend Moussa Ndiaye revealed the reason why the young bride and her new husband have not gone on a honeymoon yet. With the former Liverpool man now on duty with the Senegal national team, Aisha Tamba has final baccalaureate examinations to focus on. Moussa Ndiaye told MailOnline (via Daily Mail):

"Sadio was hoping to have a honeymoon at some point either after the final, if Senegal get there, or before, if they are eliminated. But Aisha's family want her to remain focused on her education. She has very important exams coming up and they don't want this marriage getting in the way."

Sadio Mane's best friend further added:

"They feel there will be plenty of opportunities for holidays later in her life. For now, her schoolwork must come first. Even though she is now married to Sadio, who is the most famous man in Senegal, she is still a schoolgirl and needs to complete her studies."

Liverpool legend Sadio Mane anticipates challenging AFCON for 2024

Sadio Mane has revealed his thoughts on the looming tournament, anticipating that it will be one of the toughest so far. The Liverpool legend, who is the captain of the Teranga Lions, is looking to help Senegal defend their title, but does not expect it to be easy.

Speaking to CAFOnline, the former Liverpool attacker said:

“We know it won’t be easy but we will be there to do our best and try to go through every round. We are expecting a tough competition. This competition will be one of the strongest since I started playing in it because all the big countries are here and they all have their targets, but we will see what will happen.”

The Teranga Lions will have to get out of a challenging group first if they are to go far in the tournament. They have to face Cameroon, Guinea, and The Gambia this January and will be hoping they can rack up enough points to get into the knockout stages.
