According to journalist Gregg Evans (via LFC Transfer Room on X), Liverpool do not plan on meeting Bayer Leverkusen's asking price for Florian Wirtz. The Reds have made the German midfielder a priority signing this summer, but are yet to agree to a transfer fee with his club.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Writz for a five-year contract. However, Leverkusen has allegedly rejected multiple bids from the Premier League side, including a £100 million plus add-ons. The Bundesliga side are reportedly looking to sell the 22-year-old for around £150 million.

As per the aforementioned source, the reigning Premier League champions have no intention of paying Leverkusens' valuation for Wirtz, but negotiations are still in process.

Wirtz is also wanted by Bayern Munich, but Liverpool have expressed keen desire, and are leading the race for his signature. The Reds will hope they can reach an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen. Arne Slot's side have already roped in Jeremie Frimpong from the Bay Arena outfit, a deal which cost them a reported £29.5 million.

It remains to be seen if the two clubs can reach a consensus on a transfer fee for Wirtz. The Germany international registered 16 goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances across competitions during the 2024-25 season

Liverpool star Harvey Elliot has confirmed that he is weighing his future at Anfield. The 22-year-old struggled to get regular minutes in Arne Slot's setup last term. He managed just 821 minutes of action in 28 appearances across competitions, contributing five goals and three assists.

With the Reds also looking to add Florian Wirtz to their ranks, Elliot's involvement in Slot's team could be further limited. Speaking recently, the Englishman said that although moving away from Anfield is a difficult decision, it could be the best move for his career.

He said (via Mirror):

"It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season.I don't really want to be wasting years of my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen.

"I need to reflect. I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing and how can I improve as a player because that's the most important thing.I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens."

"Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career," Elliot added.

Harvey Elliot joined the Reds in 2019 from Fulham. He has racked up 15 goals and 20 assists in 147 games for the Merseyside outfit.
