Danny Rose has heaped praise on Liverpool star Cody Gakpo after the Netherlands' win over Poland. The pundit stated that the Dutchman has been getting into good positions and deserved his goal.

Speaking on BBC One, Murphy said that Gakpo looked ready and confident on the pitch for the Netherlands, saying:

"Gakpo looks really fit and confident. He is positive with his runs and is getting in good areas. He gets a bit of luck with the deflection. He has been in some really good positions and he will probably be a little disappointed that he hasn't scored more. He has got the goal his performance deserved."

The Netherlands collected all three points after coming from behind to beat Poland. Wout Weghorst scored the winner in the 83rd minute after coming on just a minute earlier.

Liverpool star comments on the Netherlands' win over Poland

Cody Gakpo spoke to the media after their win over Poland and hailed the mentality of the Netherlands players. He claimed that the match was difficult but they managed to overcome it and seal the win.

The Liverpool star said:

"It was a tough match against a tough opponent. Obviously, they scored first, so it was a little bit more difficult. But we created a lot of good opportunities, good chances. We have to be more clinical. But overall, I think we performed really well. We are a team that never gives up, and we have good substitutes."

He added:

"We changed the whole front line and they came in and performed very well. So yes, that's a strength as well. My family was here in the stadium, so that was great. As for the scenes at the end, I cannot describe it. It's an amazing feeling. I'm very happy that we took all three points."

The Netherlands next face France on Friday (June 21st) in the Euro 2024 group stage. Their final match of the group stage will be against Austria on Tuesday (June 25th).
